When master sword smith Chiyozuru Kuniyasu traveled from Kyoto to the Fukui prefecture in 1337 he was looking for the most suitable water to forge his samurai swords.
His search ended in Koshinokuni in the mountainous area of Echizen, which later grew to be Takefu city.
