a chance encounter —
palms meet golden sunflowers,
just once, here and now

Ichigo ichie is a Japanese proverb and cultural concept, meaning “once in a lifetime encounter”.

The term reminds people to approach each encounter or gathering as if it were a once in a lifetime occurrence. Even though we may meet the same person again, this particular time can never be repeated. If we treat every meeting like the first and the last, whether it be a few minutes or a whole lifetime together, we enjoy it to its fullest capacity.
