the shelter of leaves, water —
a heart’s desire…
According to a Japanese legend, a proud emperor used a bouquet of hydrangeas as an apology to the family of a girl with whom he was in love. Ever after, the flowers have served as a representation of heartfelt feelings. It is said that the shape of their dome-like clusters resemble that of a beating heart. The purple/pink tinged petals propose desire for a deeper understanding of someone.
