Maiko is an apprentice geisha – Japanese for ” person of art ” highly trained in music, dance and entertaining. Contrary to the western perception, in Japanese culture geisha represent female power, intelligence, intrigue and mystery. While on the surface beautiful, adorned with accessories and vibrant kimonos, they possess an inner-strength of character. The most successful geisha are those highly skilled in the art of relationships. Not the superficial type, rather the meaningful lasting type. With compassion and a willingness to listen, to council, they are emotionally aware, able to connect on a deep level with their patrons.
