Personalized Engraving Services in Katakana or Kanji
Distinguish your knife in Japanese characters hand-chiseled on the blade
Uniquely personalize your knives or as a gift to someone special with UJ engraving services in Japanese characters!
A very popular and unique option that many of our customers elect for is having a specific name engraved directly on the blade of the knife. Available only for UJ Knives, if the name is non-Japanese, we’ll ‘translate’ the name into Katakana. Katakana is a syllable based writing system of the Japanese language.
For example, the Damascus Santoku-bocho knife featured on the top of this page reads the katakana characters for the family name ‘Carpenter‘ (syllables: KAH-PEN-TAH).
The cost per engraving is now just $10 per blade. However, for any 3-Piece Set, all three knives can be engraved for just $10! Engraving options can be selected on any knife product page in our Collection.
Each knife is engraved the old-fashioned way – by hammer and chisel – performed individually by the knife craftsman. Absolutely never machine made or by use of a laser. This was the way pioneering sword smiths marked their swords hundreds, as seen by the image below.
Personalization is also an excellent way to deter theft in a commercial kitchen. Makes for a superb wedding gift, birthday present, graduation present, corporate gift, and, of course, a special treat for that person who loves preparing food as much as life itself. Please allow two weeks to perform the engraving.
