Japanese Tetsubin – Dragonfly-inspired Shape
This remarkable Iwate-ken made tetsubin (cast-iron teapot) is another very popular item on Unique Japan. The Japanese designer calls this creation “tombo”, meaning dragonfly, which was the source of his inspiration. The front and back of the teapot features the beautiful wings of a dragonfly, elegantly wrapped around the surface of the pot. It is certainly a fantastic piece of art, ideally balanced to make pouring tea an absolute joy. A lovely decorative addition to any home.
The inside of the teapot is coated in enamel, which helps to prevent rusting, plus it comes with a removable stainless steel mesh infuser basket to make brewing your favourite tea wonderfully easy. The matching bold hexagon-shaped trivet (iron coaster) is also included, which not only serves as a handsome stand, but also helps the teapot retain its heat extremely well.
This TETSUBIN (TETSU means “iron” and BIN meaning “pot” or “vessel”) was made in northern Iwate-ken, a region known for producing the finest ironware in Japan. Ironware made in Iwate is called Nambu-tekki and is praised worldwide for its beauty, strength, and magnificent quality.
