Japanese Tetsubin – Bamboo-inspired Shape
This striking Iwate-ken made tetsubin (cast-iron teapot) has a certain classic flair to it. The Japanese designer calls this creation “take”, meaning bamboo, which was the source of his inspiration. The outside surface features vertical line carvings reminiscent of a healthy bamboo stalk. Elegant and fashionable, it’s ideally balanced to make pouring tea an absolute joy. This teapot would certainly make a fine decorative addition to any home.
The inside of the teapot is coated in enamel, which helps to prevent rusting, plus it comes with a removable stainless steel mesh infuser basket to make brewing your favourite tea wonderfully easy. The matching circular trivet (iron coaster) is also included, which not only serves as a handsome stand, but also helps the teapot retain its heat extremely well.
This TETSUBIN (TETSU means “iron” and BIN meaning “pot” or “vessel”) was made in northern Iwate-ken, a region known for producing the finest ironware in Japan. Ironware made in Iwate is called Nambu-tekki and is praised worldwide for its beauty, strength, and magnificent quality.
