Description:
A Japanese Samurai sword in prime condition will always pay dividends to the long-term investment value of the object.
This lovely signed katana has remained in near mint condition as it was crafted over 150 years ago. It is a sword made at the time of the last Samurai.
Born Tetsusaburo Kusano, Yoshimasa was trained by one of the greatest swordsmiths of the late Edo period, Sadayoshi Gassan. And his work testifies to this brilliance. He lived in Settsu province, which is modern day Osaka.
Blessed with a length of nearly 70cm with a gorgeous itame (wood grain) body, all of which contributed to its truly magnificent o-gunome (large wavy) temper line that is undeniably the focal point of this sword.
A custom koshirae (mounting) is a very worthy project for this katana.
The foundations are all there; signed by a respected swordsmith, in excellent condition, and the signature certified by the NBTHK as a sword worthy of conserving. PK
