Description:
Yoshisuke is one of the greatest swordsmiths from Sunshu Shimada school. The first generation of Yoshisuke was a student of Soshu Masahiro.
Yoshisuke studied under Imagawa Yoshitada and he received the symbolic Kanji “義” (Yoshi) from him, thereby making his name Yoshisuke (義助).
It has an elite quality that ranks it in company with such renowned swordsmiths such as the Kume school from Yamashiro and the legendary masters of Yukimitsu, Masamune and Tadamune in Soshu tradition.
This wakizashi is fully mounted with a refined detail that swords of such quality richly deserve. It is also blessed with a Samurai kozuka (paper knife) and kogai (hair pick) and decadent tsuba (guard) that all in their own right are very collectible pieces.
A sword in such pristine condition signed and certified Hozon as a sword worthy of conservation by the NBTHK adds testament to its significance and long-term investment value. PK
