Description:
Hitachi no Kami Muneshige produced superior swords that the Samurai cherished. He was the student of Tsuda Echizen no Kami Sukehiro, a swordsmith who was ranked as Saijo-saku and O-wazamono in the Shinto period. These rankings are the finest for cutting ability.
The honorary title “kami” or “god/spirit” is the highest designation one could receive at the time and location.
This katana is very long and grandiose, and complete with a splendid black koshirae. Also, fully certified by NBTHK as a Hozon sword (worthy of conservation).
A real gem from the Edo period. Recommended.
